About the destination
The town of Boquete is nestled in the mountains of Chiriquí, just a thirty-minute drive from the provincial capital, David. Known for producing some of the world's finest coffee and being home to a multitude of birds, including the majestic quetzal, this magical mountain destination is a popular destination for nature lovers.

Founded in 1911, its name means "narrow pass" and reflects its strategic location in a valley surrounded by mountains. Originally inhabited by the Ngäbe-Buglé indigenous people, the region began attracting European and North American settlers in the late 19th century due to its cool climate and fertile volcanic soil, ideal for agriculture.
Coffee cultivation quickly became Boquete's main economic activity. Today, the region is world-renowned for its Geisha coffee, which has won numerous international awards. The coffee plantations not only sustained the local economy but also shaped Boquete's culture and landscape.
Besides coffee, Boquete is known for its biodiversity and natural beauty. The Barú Volcano National Park, with its impressive volcano and abundant flora and fauna, attracts tourists and adventurers from around the world. The town is also a hub for birdwatching, being home to the majestic resplendent quetzal.
Boquete has evolved over time, becoming a popular tourist destination that blends its rich cultural heritage with modern amenities. Its history is a testament to the adaptability and community spirit of its inhabitants, who have preserved their legacy while embracing the world.
