Isla Iguana Escape

Get ready to enjoy a day in the paradise of the Panamanian Pacific!
Burwa offers you the possibility of spending a day on Iguana Island, a paradisiacal island with white sand and crystal clear waters.
Iguana Island is a natural paradise located in the Gulf of Panama, about 8 km off the coast of Pedasí, in the province of Los Santos. As its name suggests, the island is home to a large number of black iguanas, as well as birds such as blue-footed boobies and frigatebirds. It is a protected island within the Isla Iguana Wildlife Refuge, famous for its white sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and abundant marine life. Furthermore, during World War II, Iguana Island was used by the United States military as a training and bombing site. At that time, Panama had a strong US military presence due to the strategic importance of the Panama Canal.
Iguana Island boasts one of the largest coral reefs in the Panamanian Pacific, home to tropical fish, sea turtles, and even harmless sharks. The waters are crystal clear and rich in biodiversity, perfect for exploring marine life.
In this nature reserve, you can snorkel on the largest reef in Azuero and observe the multitude of iguanas that inhabit the sand. Cross the island along its inland path and observe the biodiversity of this natural landscape.
