Hello! If you are looking for a quick guide to visiting Panama, you are in the right place. My name is Eugenio and I am part of the Panama by Burwa team. I have been living in this tropical paradise called Panama for ten years, and as a true lover of the country and tourism in Panama, I want to share some tips so you can enjoy an unforgettable trip, whether you come for its beaches, its jungle, its history, or its urban life. Get ready to discover a small but wonderful country!

Explore Panama City beyond the Old Town

Panama City is much more than skyscrapers and Casco Viejo (although Casco is definitely a must-see). Take the time to walk through Metropolitan Natural Park, where you can see monkeys and birds without leaving the city. Do not miss the Seafood Market for a good ceviche and take a stroll along Amador for epic views of the city skyline.

Pro tip: If you like history, the Canal Museum will give you another perspective on how this country connected the entire world.

Playa Venao: a paradise for surfers (and for those seeking relaxation)

If you are someone who loves surfing or wants to learn, Playa Venao is a spot you cannot miss. Here you will find everything from waves ideal for beginners to the relaxed atmosphere everyone looks for in a beach destination. In addition, Playa Venao is on the rise as an eco-friendly destination in Panama. At Burwa, we can help you organize activities in this area—it is one of our favorites!

Bocas del Toro: an archipelago full of Caribbean charm and good vibes

Bocas del Toro is where the Panamanian Caribbean truly shines. This archipelago will charm you if you are looking for white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and a relaxed atmosphere. You can explore Isla Colón, where the main town is located with great restaurants and nightlife, or escape to quieter islands like Bastimentos or Zapatilla, ideal for snorkeling, diving, or simply relaxing on paradise-like beaches.

Pro tip: If you want to see dolphins in their natural habitat, do not miss Dolphin Bay. And if you are in the mood for something more adventurous, take an excursion through the bat caves on Bastimentos Island.

Boquete: for nature and great coffee lovers

Boquete is perfect for travelers who love the mountains and fresh air. Here you can go hiking, taste world-class coffee (literally), and enjoy hot springs. In addition, Boquete is known for its Geisha coffee plantations, one of the most expensive and sought-after coffee varieties in the world. Get ready to taste and level up your coffee preferences!

Enjoy the cultural diversity in San Blas

The San Blas Islands, or Guna Yala, are a world of their own—an archipelago of more than 300 islands in the Caribbean that preserves the indigenous Guna culture. Their turquoise waters and white beaches will leave you in awe. It is important to remember that the Guna people manage their territory autonomously, so be sure to respect their customs. Burwa also has options to make this trip unforgettable.

Tips for getting around and not getting lost along the way

Transportation in Panama includes good urban services, including the metro, and a solid bus network to the interior of the country, but in some areas it is easier to get around in a 4x4 than by bus. The main roads are well maintained, but when you head to more remote places, Wi-Fi can be as unstable as the Panamanian weather. It is part of the adventure, right? Download offline maps and get ready to disconnect!

Pro tip: In Panama City, Uber works well and is a safe option.

Immerse yourself in Panamanian culture!

Panama is a country of great cultural diversity, where different ethnicities and customs coexist. Take advantage of every stop to try local food, listen to its music, and learn a bit about its history. If you are lucky enough to visit in November, you will be able to enjoy the national holidays, when the country is dressed in red, white, and blue!

Final tips before packing your suitcase

My best advice: come with an open mind and be willing to try new things. Panama is an ideal destination for those seeking a mix of adventure, culture, beach, and jungle. And if you need help, at Panama by Burwa we are here to guide you every step of the way, from the moment you land until you say goodbye!
